As captain, you are responsible for the total operation of the yacht. The position ranges from being in charge of a full time staff of one, to being the Operation Manager of a large operation with many departments, personnel, and a large budget. You are responsible for the supervision of the crew as well as ensuring the enjoyment of all guests onboard. And, of course, you are the navigator.

Private and charter yacht captains bond with the crew on a friendly basis while still maintaining the crew’s respect as their superior. You keep financial records, make and meet budgets, plan itineraries and make reservations, and have a list of contacts around the globe for parts and services that may be needed to maintain the yacht.

A captain works very closely with the owners and guests, and has a comprehensive understanding of their needs.

REQUIREMENTS FOR YACHT CAPTAIN POSITIONS
The minimum qualifications for a yacht captain position include:

3-5 years experience as a Mate
License depending on the tonnage of the yacht. Some owners and insurance companies may require more than is actually required by law.
At The Crew Network, a 200-ton to 500-ton ticket license required
MCA
A proven record of navigation
Management skills
Personnel management
Public Relations
Exceptional communication and service skills
Inventory control
Budgeting and accounting skills
Emergency Management
Engineering knowledge
Environmental regulations
Insurance considerations
Computer literate

Yacht Capitan and House Manager Job Description
This position’s job duties include maintenance and piloting of the company’s 65 foot yacht and the maintenance of a corporate house, both are located in Deerfield Beach. The vessel is docked outside the house together with waterjets and rib. The job includes piloting the vessel when in use by company personnel as well as coordinating regular maintenance of its systems by the successful candidate and/or with the help of subcontractors. Another essential function of this position is ensuring that the house is maintained and kept up to top standard and that everything is in is working order when it’s used by company personnel or guests. This is accomplished by overseeing the maintenance, upkeep and availability of the house.
Certificates Qualifications;
6 pack charter captain license
Mechanical degree or related experience
Driver’s license
Microsoft office: XL, Word, Power point
A valid STCW certificate is required from all applicants.

Experiences:
Minimum 5 years’ experience from Working on charter boats or similar.
Documented experience of mechanical work

Other:
Service minded
Good English communication skills
Can-do attitude
Accurate and used to document work done
