Job Description:

a small dive shop looking for a team player to join our team. The Boat Captain is the face of Keys Diver on our snorkel and dive trips and is responsible for providing a fun and safe trip for guests. This position is part time, 2-4 days a week.

Key responsibilities are:

Captain the boat for trips to and from the Key Largo reefs. We operate a 40 person snorkel boat and a 25 person scuba boat.
Safety briefings before the trip for guests.
Ensure safety for all guests while on the boat.
Manage the crew on the boat.
Basic maintenance on the boats.

An ideal candidate would have:

A focus on delivering an excellent guest experience.
A USCG 50 ton captain license.
Dive Master certification required to run the dive boat.
Current CPR/ First Aid certification
Ability to work in the US.
Ability to pass background check and be a member of Keys Consortium or willing to join.

Job Details:

Per trip pay with tips plus hourly pay for non-trip related work

Alaska Logistics is looking for a Captain on our Landing Craft the Takotna RIver. You must have a 200 Ton License or greater and a Master of Towing endorsement. (NOT Commercial Assistance). We would like to find a Captain who is willing to grow, learn and make this their own vessel for years to come.

We deliver freight to western Alaska. Anything from household goods, heavy machinery, vehicles, gravel. We do a lot of our moves with 20 & 40’ containers along with flats & stanchion flats. Season starts in April and will go until October or possibly a bit later.

The Kaktovik will work on the Kuskokwim and Yukon Rivers and also hit coastal villages. Our work depends on where the jobs need us. Were looking for a 2-3 man crew as the boats are not very big. You will be living on the vessel in small living conditions.

You must be familiar with shallow draft equipment as we land in a lot of villages. The rivers and landings are very tide oriented. Must be familiar with barge operations. Vessels don’t have COI so we don’t put freight on top on the landing crafts.

Responsibilities and DutiesCaptain/Master (hereinafter referred to as “Captain”): All Captains must have the physical abilities to perform the essential functions and normal customary duties of a Captain. Non-performance of essential functions is grounds for termination. The duties include, but are not limited to the following:

· Maintain diligent and competent management of the Vessel.
· Send in all daily reports required by the Charterer or Owner/Operator.
· Send in daily position reports to the Owner/Operator.
· Ensure reports of items loaded on and off motor vessel and any barges towed by motor vessel are accurate and delivered in a timely manner to the Seattle office and to the Operations Manager.
· Fill out daily logs to be sent back to Seattle (or make sure the First Mate does). Information filled out should include:
· Overview of the daily activities (location, departures, arrivals, etc.)
· Log of any freight taken on/off vessel and/or barge.
· Weather conditions, etc.
· Email weekly crew logs/timesheets to Alaska Logistics payroll.

· Report any and all accidents occurring to crew, Vessel, and/or equipment

· Ensure Vessel is being maintained according to standards, policies, and procedures.
· Follow instructions as directed inprocedural and policy handbooks.
· Any and all duties normally associated with the Captain’s position according to USCG rules and regulations.

An albacore tuna captain will be a hard driving commercial fisherman with complete responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of the St. Jude in its pursuit of tuna potentially throughout the entire Pacific Ocean. Our crew includes a fully qualified engineer/captain, who will train and assist the candidate in operations and maintenance of the vessel.The vessel is crewed additionally by two Fijian brothers who have experience and a great work ethnic. The job requires candidate to spend long trips offshore typically 40 – 70 days at sea. Compensation is calculated as crewshares.

The job is as an apprentice Captain aboard my albacore tuna troller the St. Jude. The exposure to Covid 19 would be negligible since you would be spending large blocks of time far offshore in isolation.
