JOB OPENING: USCG Licensed Captain at Coastal Expeditions, Inc.
Since 1992, Coastal Expeditions has been putting people safely and securely in the path of beauty. As expert captains and guides, we delight in sharing all that we know about the Lowcountry–its land and water; plants and animals; and history and culture–with everyone we meet.
We are looking for an experienced Captain who will join our team leading boat trips out of Awendaw, Mount Pleasant, Charleston and Johns Island, South Carolina.
DUTIES
â— Serving as a Captain for public and charter trips, as needed
â— Helping crew prepare for trips, cleaning and disinfecting the boat between departures
â— Overseeing the condition of the boat and fueling the vessel
â— Working flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
â— Supervising crew and clients on-board the vessel
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
◠Valid USCG Masters Captain’s License and related documents
â— Two years of full-time experience
â— Strong work ethic
â— Vessel maintenance and mechanical knowledge
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
â— Experience and enjoyment working with people and interpreting nature
HOURS
We are hiring part-time and full-time positions. Candidates should be willing to work some weekends and holidays through peak seasons, including the fall, spring and summer months.
COMPENSATION
This is an hourly position with a base wage starting at $20/hour plus tips, as well as a stipend for health insurance and benefits. After a successful probationary period, the candidate will be eligible for the Coastal Expeditions IRA matching program.
